Company History
Many years ago (OK, a lot of years ago) Michael Marmur (founder and president of Special Event Photography & Pinpoint National Photography) paid his way through McGill University doing wedding and event photography. After graduation, he began working as a management consultant and abandoned event photography. Many years later, in 2001, he joined the Toronto Guild for Photographic Art, a well known and highly respected photography club.

While other club members were shooting birds, bugs and barns, Michael was most interested in photographing people. So in December 2002, he set up a hobby business in the Toronto area to photograph social events.

Within two years, clients were making double and triple requests for the same dates so Michael began booking other qualified photographers to photograph those events. Special Event Photography handled everything except the actually shooting, which was done by the photographer.

By the spring of 2005, this "hobby business" had taken on a life of its own. In May 2005, Michael decided to turn the company into a "real business". This meant that he would no longer be one of the photographers, as it would be necessary to focus on growing the company and developing the business processes to deliver high quality event photography service across Canada, at a fair price.

By 2008, the company had expanded and had developed a considerable client base within the corporate sector for corporate event, headshots and images for marketing material. . In late 2009, Pinpoint National Photography was launched to conduct photography assignments in every major Canadian city through its local photographers.

Future plans are to extend coverage to major cities in the United States to provide Canadian firms the ability to capture images of their people and facilities from across North America for use on their global websites.

Today, Special Event Photography photographs social events, such as weddings, while Pinpoint National Photography works in the corporate and business area. The companies are active in Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec City, Montreal, Halifax, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, Victoria and Vancouver.
